The best place to record a drum kit? Week beginning 240712

Week beginning 240712

The best place to record a drum kit?

1.   A phone box in a quiet street
2.   A recording studio
3.   In the middle of the woods
4.   Top of a hill
5.   Don’t play a kit, play a bike…..

The album is like a giant jigsaw puzzle with all the parts recorded all over the country, some parts close recorded, some experimental recorded and others just “capture the moment”

Another great week full of edits, free tracking, overdubs and rehearsal!

2 tracks have been mixed and ready for the album!
Such a milestone, from the initial idea, to being able to hear and be proud of the results!

Forthcoming album:

….Just for the record

For anyone that would like to donate, I have set up a pledge page for a little help with the final production costs of the album (a percentage goes to Great Ormond Street), here is the link: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/paulcheese

I also have a Just giving page for donations direct to Great Ormond Street:

The whole trip has been self funded (so it should be ) but any help with the final production costs would be much appreciated!

“Breakfast at Trinity’s” Week beginning 170712

Week beginning 170712

“Breakfast at Trinity’s”

Playing a gig in the morning is a great way to start the day! Thanks to Kay/Hero blues and all that came along to Trinity arts centre in Tunbridge Wells.

Guitar cam!

Energized after a great studio session on Monday.
With so much audio, video and ideas it’s always good to get fresh outside thoughts on the project!

Got out into the countryside in between rain “free tracking’ this week capturing extra bits for the album under and old hop railway line
bridge. Great to see Nailz and run some tracks on the tracks... (audio and railway ) haha

Its all coming together! Another full week of rediscovering moments from the trip and edging each track closer to mix point. (studio late nights and early starts, so exciting!)

Here is a moment whilst cycling in Scotland.
A delay/echo bounced off a mountain into a forest……..

….Just for the record

Up to 49% of my pledge amount now, thank you so much!
And £637 on Just giving!

"Back in the saddle", week starting 8th July

Week beginning Sunday 8th July

Great to be back out on the bike today after a week of editing.
I think I have become addicted to the adventure, the physical and finding somewhere different to play.

So I am now going to treat my rehearsals as “lets find somewhere different to play”

Here’s a selection of this weeks rehearsal places:

I a second world war pillbox:

Inside an old overflow tunnel:

On the drying floor of an Oast house:

Inside an old oak tree:

Fantastic to be able to keep this going and be building my list of sound spaces.

Looking forward to the gig at Trinity arts centre on Saturday.
Currently working album artwork, track edits and video edits.

Great to be putting it all together. Piece by piece.

A big thank you to all that have donated so far........Thank you!

Weekly Blog update “A Penny farthing for your Thoughts?”

Thursday 5th July 2012

3163 Kilometres, 3 tyres, 2 sets of brakes and about 200 pints of milk!

So many things that I had forgotten we had done!

Been going through all the audio and video that was captured whilst away.
I keep stumbling on so many moments that had been forgotten.....

Like jumping out of an aeroplane on day 3......

Its so odd not having to put everything you own in bin liners before going anywhere!

Going to be uploading videos over the next month (as I put the album together and discover what it is that we did…ha ha)

The video is now live on Pledge music……so as before:
